His burned body was found, along with that of his brother Ernest, an employee and their driver in his burned-out jeep near the village of Sapouy, about 100 km south of Ouagadougou, on the way to the Zongo family ranch. The jeep had not crashed into anything, skidded or left the road and there were bullet holes in a door. The national human rights association MBDHP said the killings were "very probably a well-planned crime."
